Professional Social Agencies Provide Hope for Child Victims of Sexual Abuse

On July 28, 2020, Kansas City Local News interviewed a girl who was sexually abused as a child. The 22-year-old girl named Elena Nanneman used her own experience to offer hope for sexual abused survivors. During her childhood from 7 to 8 years old, Elena was sexually abused by an elder in her grandfather’s church for a long time, and this elder was a very trusted and loved friend of their family. At the same time, she also understood that all this was not her fault, which was one of the most important goals of Sunflower House. She gradually recovered from the trauma, and bravely faced all this. Today, 22-year-old Elena has become one of the spokespersons of Sunflower House. She uses her story to encourage victims like her.
